Today, I began the major part of getting organized for the trip. My mom and I went down to University hospital in Louisville to get my Typhoid vaccine, and I got a crash course in disease prevention while abroad. Although it was a bit overwhelming at the time, I like knowing that I'll be safe on the trip and know what to do if anything comes up. I also got a folder to keep track of any important documents I might need before or during the trip. You never know what you'll need to have, and I am very skilled at losing things.
My Typhoid vaccine was (thankfully) available in a pill form. I despise needles, so I was pretty happy about that. I have to keep it refrigerated, and I take one pill every other day. The pills need to be taken either an hour before eating or two hours after, and they are to be taken with a large glass of water to help them bypass the stomach. They gave me reminder stickers, a bracelet, and set me up with text alerts, so I guess a lot of people forget to take them. This is the last vaccine I needed before the trip, so now I'm good to go!
